Nickon From Mai FM vist

On Wednesday we were lucky to have a visit from Nickon from Mai FM. He came to tell us about what it is like to work at the radio station.

We had lots of fun because we got to talk on his phone which is connected to Mai F.M.  He took negative stories and changed into positive stories . He travels a lot and he travels to Christchurch every Tuesday for The Erin Simsimpon show. Nickson got to drive 50 Cent around once and stopped at the Warehouse  because that is 50 Cent’s favorite store. Nickson used to work at the radio station where his job was just to pick songs and play Xbox 360.

Now he works for Mai F.M and his crew does the morning session. When famous people come into the studio they have to put their hand on the bible to tell the truth. Nickson said working at the radio station isn’t hard.  His friend Nate always gets them into trouble.

Nickson  never wants to be mean to other people or else they won’t call back. His boss Toast has dreadlocks  and wears sandals in the cold. Nickson just got married last month . People who want to record themselves on Mai F.M  can go on their website.
There are only 37 radio stations in Auckland. Nickson said you want to find something you really like then you’ll be good at it and work hard.

Catholic school day

On a bright Tuesday St Joseph school from Orakei came to celebrate Catholic school day with us. When St Joseph school from Orakei arrived to celebrate Catholic School day at St Pius X Catholic School I was delighted because I wanted to meet a new friend.

We had a Catholic Schools Day mass and there were 370 students. We had a lovely mass with St Joseph. I met a new friend and her name was Ponia but I called her “ Nia”for short.

I took her and showed her around the school, when we bumped into Lose she took her away from me. Lose had to go netball training and I said” When you go netball training I am going to play with her” and she replied back “ Yes.”

Nia was a Tongan just like me and she was ten years old, I was one year older than her. My new friend and I went and walked around the field and I asked Nia if their school  had a big field at their school and she replied back “ Yes but it is a small field.”

After the St Pius and St Joseph students had playtime we had a concert in the hall. Room 7 sang I'm Yours by Jason Mraz and the St Joseph students performed Count On Me by Bruno Mars. Right after the concert we had to say goodbye to our new friends. Catholic School Day was an awesome day because we got to meet new friends and spend time with them. I hope I can see my new friend again.

Weekly reflection

My highlight is........ going outside of school and representing St Pius X Catholic School for orienteering. Also learning how to read a picogram and a steam and leaf graph.

I have no lowlights for this week because I liked everything.

I am looking forward to watching my brother play rugby and I can’t wait until my grandmother and my brother’s birthdays.

Connectedness

We have been learning about how water connects us all. We chose an island in the pacific ocean to create a presentation about.

Pictogram blog

We are learning about statistical literacy. This means reading and writing about statistics. We learned about pictogram. One of the most important things to look for is the key. The key is important because it tells you how many pictures are they. Here is some example of the pictogram:

Mother's day

My mum is tall and has short black hair. She works hard for her family members. She is a helpful person and she protects me. She shares with me every little thing she has. She was born in Auckland and she has never been to Tonga to visit her husbands family. The only people that have visited his family are my brother and I with my grandma

My mum like to watch netball and rugby, she also likes to eat Mcdonalds and KFC. She does not like my brother to watch WWE because he fights nearly every day with his outside friends. She dislikes my brother and I watching movies or doing stuff we are not supposed to do. She also likes to travel to places she has never been before like Australia. She likes to speak in Tongan and she likes to read books to me in her free time.

She supports me at everything I do, she has guided me all the way and I have respect for what she has done for me. Whenever I feel sad she comes and cheers me up just like what my friends will do if they were there. She will tuck me into my bed so I can be warm in the night because in the morning I am sometimes freezing to death!

I love my mum because she has guided me in my
whole entire life, she has never left me alone and when she is gone she is never gone because she is in my heart. Every time when my dad is sick she has to look after her whole family like my little and older brother and my sister and I.
